How Load Time Affects Your Google Rankings [infographic]
Do you know how fast your site is? As it turns out, load time affects your Google rankings i...
As you probably know Google hasn't always considered page speed an important ranking factor. The reason they eventually ended up incorporating it into their algorithm is because they noticed that showing sites with slow loading times in their results made people stop using their services. What this means for you is that it is important to keep the load time of your site ideally under 2 seconds to achieve good rankings.
But if you want to do everything you can to have the fastest load time for your website, Google can help you with that. They have a developer tool called PageSpeed Insights that can run a quick load time test on your site. All you have to do is enter your URL in the box and hit the analyze button to get the load time of a website rated in just a couple of seconds. You'll also get some pretty detailed instructions on how to improve the site's speed score which is a nice bonus.
Your website's load time impacts user experience directly and Google knows that. Poor website loading time can irritate your audience, lose you search engine rankings and ultimately cost you money. The good news is that very few people bother with how fast their sites load so even a tiny improvement will put you ahead of most of your competition.
