Wheatgrass is very popular nowadays, people seem to think that it's the kind of panacea that cures literally everything under the sun. Wheatgrass advocates go as far as saying that it can actually cure cancer. With such a large claim to it, I think it's time to take a closer look at wheatgrass and find out whether or not it can help in the battle against cancer.
Wheatgrass isn't one of those super raw foods that looks and tastes awesome. It actually looks and tastes a lot like the grass that grows in your garden. However, research shows that even though it tastes kind of weird and looks nothing special, it's one of the most powerful superfoods you can find. It's full of antioxidants, has more vitamin C than oranges and it's an excellent source of protein. But how can that help in the battle against cancer?
Well, most cancer patients have to go through a treatment called chemotherapy, a method that kills off cells in your body – both tumorous and healthy ones. And this is where wheatgrass can be a huge help. First of all, thanks to its awesome protein content, it can help your body rebuild its damaged cells much faster. And then its vitamin C content will give your immune system just the boost that it needs in the battle against cancer. In fact, according to the Hippocrates Health Institute, 2 ounces of wheatgrass contains as much nutrients as 5 pounds of vegetables. That makes it a super food in my book and a fantastic supplement to include in your diet.
So can wheatgrass support you in the battle against cancer? Yes, it provides natural ingredients that will renew your body and strengthen your immune system during treatments. But can it cure cancer? At this point, I think we need more research on that one. So before experimenting with a wheatgrass diet, make sure you consult with your doctor or oncologist first.
